Michael Chiklis ph. The Human Torch was okay and the guy who played Mr. Fantastic nailed his boring, stodgy condescension to a t. What a gyp! Review of movie, not delivery method. This was a single-time rental on-line, viewed immediately, so there is not much to say about the product delivery other than it worked as well as any other Amazon or Netflix movie viewing experience. As for the movie I say this as someone who read the comics as a kid, and has at least a passing familiarity with the characters.
I also would have liked to see the Susan Storm character given a bit more substance Also, the Thing is physically just too small. The guy should tower over the rest of the FF. Anyways, this was good for a saturday popcorn fest with the kids, but I wouldn't go expecting an experience like the Avengers or the recent Batman movies.
Arguably the worst comic-related movie of the 's, this is really only for those who are truly trying to complete their collection on blu-ray. As a long-time fan of the comic books like back when they began!
The Silver Surfer shows a vulnerability and yet, an innate heroism while rejecting Dr. Doom and protecting Sue that adds a depth to his character that humanizes him in spite of his silver coloring.
All of the 4 seem to be more comfortable with their characters, almost making you believe in the "love" between the Invisible Girl and Mr. Fantastic, and the deeper commitment of Johnny Torch is very welcome indeed. Even more appealing is the newly-found happiness of Ben.
His constant misery and self-pity in the first movie was wearing on the nerves. Sure, a little, but isn't that part of what we love about them? One person found this helpful. Even at the risk of killing the already lame joke, this is a fantastic movie, and an engaging sequel to the first Fantastic 4 film.
If possible, this movie is even more "over-the-top" than its predecessor. With the shadow of armageddon looming ever closer, the Fantastic 4 must stop the Silver Surfer from contacting his cosmic master, Galactus, and save our planet from annihilation.
The cast reprises their roles from the previous film, and the chemistry is just as magical in this movie as it was in the last. The greatest addition, however comes from an actor who doesn't even appear in the movie. Laurence Fishburne's voice was a perfect fit for the character of the Silver Surfer. His voice carried wisdom, power, and a certain gravitas needed to help bring Norrin Radd to life. Sadly, this is the last film of the Fantastic 4 franchise, and without a doubt, the greatest.
Rise of the Silver Surfer is a gem that speaks to the superhero-loving child in all of us. See all reviews from the United States. Top international reviews. The story is based around the Marvel stories that featured the first appearance of said Silver Surfer in the comic book franchise. Silver Surfer Doug Jones with Laurence Fishburne dubbing the voice is acting as a herald for the planet devouring Galactus, their next target?
Not only that but the military are starting to get heavy and annoyed with the four and who is this back on the scene? Doctor Doom! Julian McMahon Thought he was dead, and how come he's in league with the military now?
All of this issues must be addressed or the Earth will suffer the direst of consequences. Yet, and it's certainly no towering genre picture, "Silver Surfer" is a hugely enjoyable movie for fans of the source comics and the undemanding popcorn muncher. The fans, and I don't speak for all of them of course, should in the main be happy that the makers have been faithful to the origins of the story.
There's also some nifty humour and both Alba and Gruffudd aren't as dull as they were in the first movie. Perhaps they are more comfortable now knowing that the paying public held sway over the critics?
Evans is still the best thing in the franchise, and the appearance of Andre Braugher as General Hager is a welcome edition. Age rating Parental guidance. Duration 1 h 32 min. Size 5. Additional terms Terms of transaction.

On its opening weekend, the film was the highest-grossing movie at the U. The website's critics consensus reads: "While an improvement on its predecessor, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer is nevertheless a juvenile, simplistic picture that has little benefit beyond its special effects.
The New York Times critic Manohla Dargis called the film an "amalgam of recycled ideas, dead air, dumb quips, casual sexism and pseudoscientific mumbo jumbo". Rise of the Silver Surfer was nominated for fifteen awards, winning two.
